The rapper known as Snoop Dogg is bringing a youth football clinic to Chicago in an attempt to show children constructive ways to stay off the streets and set goals.

The superstar recently visited Chicago Indoor Sports Facility on Chicago’s South Side to host a free youth clinic.

Snoop brought a Snoop Youth Football League division to Chicago and said he hopes its inaugural season will prove to be effective in bringing the kids together and off the streets.

“The only way we can stop this violence here in Chicago is if we become one team,” the rapper said.

The performer started the Snoop Youth Football League in Los Angeles in 2004, and Chicago is the first city to host the league outside of California. It is open to kids 7-14, with the season beginning in August.

“We’re going to the toughest areas. We’re going to deal with them face to face,” he said. “I want to give them something to fight for. At the end of the day, they’re our future.”
