CASTING CALL: Superman Sequel Seeking Paid Extras for Chicago Area Filming
Warner Bros. will be holding casting calls June 16 & 17 in Chicago, Plano, and Naperville, Illinois for paid extras in the upcoming “Superman” sequel. The movie is being shot in the Chicago area later this summer.
Filming for “Superman/: Man of Steel” will take place where the casting calls are being held. Warner Bros. is still calling the project by its code name “Autumn Frost”, as many studios use code names to draw less attention. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres Christmas of 2012.
Background casting assistant at the studio’s casting office in Aurora, James McKay told Chicago Business, “We’re looking for all ages, all types. We’re looking to meet as many people as possible.”
The studio is reportedly also looking specifically for infant twins and “military/athletic types.” In a casting call announcement, it was said the studio is looking for “paid extras, stand-ins and photo doubles.”
Chicago Business wrote:
There will be an open casting call at the DePaul University Naperville Campus on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by another one at the Chicago Academy for the Arts on June 25 during the same hours. The notice said, “Drop in anytime during these hours.”
A casting call for Plano residents only will be June 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Plano High School.
Directed by Zack Snyder, who also directed “300” and this year’s “Sucker Punch,” the film is anticipated to reinvent the Superman genre.
It’s anticipated that Plano will portray Smallville, the Kansas farm town where Superman grew up. The film stars Henry Cavill as the adult Superman, along with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.
