The popular Spanish telenovela, Terminales will be adapted by the ABC Family network for English speaking audiences.

ABC is working with Lionsgate and Kapital Entertainment, who will produce the show.  ABC sees what many in Latin America see a show about pretty people getting cancer with larger than life personalities that is very popular.  The U.S. version of the Televisa telenovela will probably feature a fashion-forward teen versus young-adult to cater more to their tween audience, who is dying of cancer and is surrounded by very colorful characters in her publicist job.

ABC Family is so excited about the project it is fast-tracking it and is preparing to cast the show.  Watch the trailer for the original asking “Are you ready to die?” You will especially love the elderly abuelitas giving advice to Abril Marquez’ character to have as much sex as possible as a cure for cancer – only in telenovelas.

ABC Family might have to clean up the script a bit and not have so many love scenes in hospital beds.
