Fans of the late, great Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño are getting a treat this week as two of his novels have become available in e-Book format for the first time. His hefty 898 page tome “2666” and “The Savage Detectives” are now available electronically by Picador.
The writer and poet died at age 50 on May 15, 2003 leaving many unpublished works. He did not live to see the publication of “2666” that came out in 2008. Picador is also making available Bolaño’s “The Savage Detectives” winner of the Romulo Gallegos Prize.
The real treat for Bolaño fans will be the release this week of a complete bilingual collection of his poetry. “The Unknown University” includes some of Bolaño’s earliest works, the first dating from 1978 and all written before he started his fiction writing.
