The Latin Recording Academy announced Wednesday that Miguel Bose will be honored at the next Latin Grammy gala as 2013 Person of the Year for “his philanthropic and professional accomplishments.”
Tribute will be paid to the Spanish artist and 2002 winner of the Latin Grammy for the best pop album by a male vocalist for “Sereno” with a star-studded concert and gala, the communique said.
The concert and gala will take place on Nov. 20 in Las Vegas, one day before the 14th annual Latin Grammy Awards prize ceremony.
The receipts obtained from the concert and gala will be allocated to educational programs offered by the Latin Recording Academy.
Bose began his music career almost 40 years ago with the help of Camilo Sesto, who composed his first numbers. In 1977, he released his first album, which included some of his emblematic songs, including “Linda.”
An icon like few in the Latino music realm, Bose has had many hits during his career and has sold some 14 million albums.
