Kidnapped Spanish Businessman Released in Mexico

A Spanish businessman who was kidnapped in Mexico in late September has been released, thanks to a joint operation by Spanish police and the Mexican Attorney General’s Office, officials said Sunday.

The unidentified businessman is from the northeastern Spanish region of Catalonia, investigators said.

Spanish Civil Guard officers traveled to Mexico and worked with Mexican authorities to bring about the businessman’s release, officials said.

The Catalonian regional police force and the Civil Guard plan to hold a press conference on Monday to discuss the operation in more detail.
