The first trailer for Ridley Scott and Cormac McCarthy’s The Counselor was released this week.

The Counselor is award-winning author Cormac McCarthy’s first script, but he is already familiar with Hollywood. McCarthy’s books All the Pretty Horses and No Country for Old Men were turned into award-winning films.

Last June it was confirmed that Penelope Cruz wound be joining her husband Javier Bardem on the film, which also stars Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, and Cameron Diaz.

The film tells the story of a lawyer (Fassbender) who makes the mistake of getting involved in the world of drug trafficking through a friend (Pitt) in order to solve his money problems.

Bardem will play the film’s friend-turned-villain, Reiner, while Cruz is set to play Fassbender’s fiancé.

The Counselor is scheduled to hit theaters on October 25.
