Tuesday, actress Eva Longoria was in Texas to attend a rally on behalf of the mentally disabled and to lobby lawmakers to stop the proposed cut to the Department of Aging and Disability Services budget.
The cut would slash the DADS budget by 20 percent, around $1 billion.
Longoria’s older sister Elizabeth has Down’s Syndrome. The actress expressed that in Texan’s understood the effect of the cuts on people like her sister, they would stand against them, and told the rally-goers that she would speak out against these cuts.
