Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the 2011 Golden Cleat Award on Friday for his whopping 40 goals throughout last season.
For the second time, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the Golden Cleat, given to the player that scored the most goals through the season.
This time around, Ronaldo received the award from two of the most important figures in soccer: Alfredo DiStéfano, honorary President of Real Madrid and one of the club’s most admired players and Eusebio, the all time best Portuguese soccer star, and first ever Golden Cleat winner, back in 1968.
“This is an award for me and all the Portuguese people,” said Ronaldo “Thank you all. I want to share this trophy with all my team mates, the president, the fans, all of Real Madrid. My family, my son, my girlfriend, all of you, thanks to all of you.”
