Health Tip: Prepare to Bring Baby Home
What you need for the trip from the hospital.
Most babies are ready to leave the hospital within two to five days of birth. For parents, that means a lot of preparation.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says parents should follow this checklist before bringing baby home:
* Properly install a rear-facing car seat that is federally approved and the correct size for your little one.
* Be sure to follow the car seat maker’s instructions carefully. If possible, have the installed seat inspected by a certified technician.
* Select a safe place for the infant to sleep, well in advance.
* Purchase clothing and blankets, diapers, and formula—if you decide not to breast-feed.
