The last time Latinos heard from Mitt Romney he was telling some of them to self-deport while denying he was one of them though his father was born in Mexico. Now it appears that Romney, the former Republican Presidential candidate that garnered 27% of the Latino vote in 2012, may need to self-deport himself after a humiliating grub-and-grovel dinner with President-elect Donald Trump.
Reportedly Romney is in the running among others to be the next Secretary of State. The big news is not that he maligned a fellow (occasional) Republican but rather captured his essence so well and spoke so honestly about it. Remember, Romney is a devote Mormon who often lives by the Book of Mormon motto “Truth abideth foreverand ever.” (D&C 1:39). No, the news is that the man who called Trump a “conman” “fraud” “fake” and had verbalized his distaste for Trump’s [lack of] “personal qualities” was now seen tasting frog legs at Jean-Georges in New York City, Book of Mormon be damned.
Romney not only dined where many could see him he exited the Trump International Hotel (no surprise) that houses the restaurant sounding giddy about meeting the “fraud” over frog legs stating how “enlightening and interesting and engaging” the encounter was. Who knew he needed employment so desperately. We assume he was referring to Trump and not their other dinner companion Reince Priebus who is male, pale and stale like a true Midwestern Republican. Rumor had it the wives were supposed to join the high-profile dinner. We assume Melania whose face may be frozen and void of emotion expressed herself clearly by throwing a kitten-heel chancla and said “F** No I don’t want part of this circus.” Or maybe she remembered when Romney insulted her, labeling her a “foreign wife” (and not the only one) doing a job most “Americans won’t do.” Ouch! Melania might have been further offended that Romney the master of details didn’t mention she speaks five languages and graduated from somewhere. Ann Romney for her part had already said “We’re not doing that again.”
The grub-and-grovel session clearly demonstrates that Romney has lost it, is desperate to ditch the 5 kids and 20 grandkids that he’s always in the company of or loves the power dust just like every other red blooded non-Mormon and will do whatever is politically expedient to be in that orb. Latinos are reminded of the words Romney told a reporter when pressed on the immigration issue during his presidential campaign:
“The answer is self-deportation, which is people decide they can do better by going home because they can’t find work here because they don’t have legal documentation to allow them to work here.”
Now it’s Romney who should self-deport since he can/should do better by going home because he isn’t going to find work with Trump.
