The day after the presidential inauguration, while drying your tear-soaked pillow, if you had happened to visit www.whitehouse.gov/espanol to check if maybe the outcome was different when read in Spanish, something was evidently different. You not only realized the world ended as you had known it, something nefarious was underfoot when the following message displayed on the Spanish translated site that was live the day before the inauguration:
“Sorry, the page you’re looking for cannot be found.”
What happened everyone (well folks that didn’t vote for Donald Trump I mean) were wondering? Did former President Obama accidentally pack it in a moving box? Did ‘Crooked Hillary’ steal it? Did the Russians hack it and give it to the Crimeans as a consolation prize? Was Melania using it to learn her 6th language? Did the Trump children sell it to the highest bidder?
Thirty-seven days later it appears the site still “cannot be found.” Today, the following message displays:
“Thank you for your interest in this subject.” “Stay tuned as we continue to update Whitehouse.gov.”
Wait is the Spanish language site still lost, not translated or both? Or are those snappy folks in the White House lovingly updating it? Updating it with what though: Spanish, English, or worse Trump’s version of the English language?
They figured out how to set back the country in record time, craft Executive Orders at lightning speed yet can’t figure out how to translate English-to-Spanish in 37-days.
The naysayers assume it will never be found, updated, or revised. Keep in mind the Trump administration took possession of the website on Friday January 20, inauguration day and less than 24-hours later No Hablo Espanol happened, which speaks of intent and not good intent.
The White House when questioned gave a list of what at the time many perceived to be well thought out explanations (this was before the world was introduced to alternative facts) but now appear to be mere excuses:
* , director of media affairs: “We’re just building up.” “It’s just day two on the job.
* : Bitch this site is never coming back we only speak two languages: third-grade English and bloated narcissism.
* , press secretary: “We are continuing to build out the website… .” “We’ve got the IT folks working overtime on that now.”
* : The IT folks, most of them foreigners, are not showing up to work since we are eliminating their H1B visas or deporting them.
Can the real reason the White House website in Spanish will never come to fruition is because the Commander-in-Chief has been known to say: “This is a country where we speak English.” “We have a country, where, to assimilate, you have to speak English… .” This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish.” If that is the case the site needs to come clean and provide the following message:
“Sorry, the page cannot be found, and will be forever lost like the Latino Vote for Republicans.”
