USDOT Selects Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as Regional Resource Center
The U.S. DOT Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) just announced that the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) in Chicago will serve as the Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC) for the Great Lakes Region covering Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.
“We are very happy to have the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce join our team. The IHCC will allow the U.S. Department of Transportation to better service the small businesses and the Chamber’s talent and experience are a welcome addition to our program,” remarked OSDBU Director Brandon Neal.
“IHCC is pleased to have been selected by the U.S. DOT OSDBU to operate the Great Lakes Region SBTRC,” said IHCC President & CEO Omar Duque.”It represents an exciting opportunity and a new resource in our work to increase participation by small disadvantaged businesses in federally funded transportation projects. We are pleased that U.S. DOT recognized our capacity and track record helping small businesses. We remain committed to delivering outstanding results through this program,” Duque said.
The purpose of the SBTRCs is to offer a comprehensive delivery system of business training, technical assistance, and dissemination of information targeted towards transportation-related small business enterprises within their regional areas. The SBTRCs further the mission of the OSDBU to increase the number of small businesses that are prepared to compete for, and enter into, transportation-related prime and subcontract opportunities.
