UNO Sets Grand Opening Celebration for Its Newest School

Thousands of Students, Parents, Community LeadersExpected at Festivities for $21 Million School on Northwest Side

The United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) will hold a grand opening celebration for its newest school on Wednesday night. The new, $21 million school is located in Chicago’s Galewood neighborhood, on the city’s northwest side. The spectacular facility is an architectural marvel and another example of UNO’s commitment to expanding school choice for parents. The school adds 576 public school seats to help ease overcrowding.

Wednesday’s celebration comes a week after Chicago Teachers Union members walked out of classrooms and declared a strike.
Meanwhile, the city’s 51,000 charter school students remain in charter school classrooms across the city.

“UNO is dedicated to providing parents more educational choice,” said Juan Rangel, CEO of UNO.  “This new charter school in Galewood provides another important option for parents in an area that is facing severe school overcrowding.”

UNO is a Chicago-basedHispanic advocacy organization that operates 13 charter schools in Chicago with an enrollment of nearly 7,000 students.
