United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) to Host Flag Day and Citizenship Ceremony
100 New Americans Will Take Citizenship Oath
More than 100 new Americans will take the oath of citizenship during Flag Day ceremonies at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012 at UNO’s Veterans Memorial Campus, 4248 W. 47th St., Chicago. The event will feature UNO students who will talk about what citizenship means to them.
UNO CEO Juan Rangel and officials from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will make remarks. Martha Medina, Field Director, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will administer the Oath of Allegiance.
Citizenship and patriotism are key components of UNO’s philosophy. UNO challenges the Hispanic community to reach its full potential as the newest Americans through education, economic progress and political participation.
