Recycle Your Used Live Holiday Tree

Beginning on Saturday, January 1st and running through Monday, January 17th,  2011 Chicago residents can drop off their used real holiday trees at any one of 23 participating tree drop off sites (see listing below). Trees will be turned into a fragrant mulch which will only be made available on a limited basis beginning on Jan 7th at designated sites.

Trees should be dropped-off inside of the tree corrals set up at 23 locations. Crews will not be on hand to receive the trees so there will be no on the spot mulching and no rewards will be provided for bringing in trees. The reward for this effort will be helping the environment and keeping a massive amount of trees out of the waste stream and landfills.

Only real trees should be dropped off and must be free of all ornaments, lights, tinsel and stands. Please do not drop off any tree lights, decorations, wreaths, garlands or household recyclables at these locations.
