“Posadas en Pilsen” Holiday Celebration

The second annual Posadas en PIlsen festival features three days of traditional Mexican holiday celebrations.  Traditional Posadas take place at four different locations at 6 pm on December 16, with live music and aguinaldos, traditional gift bags given to children at Posadas.  On December 17, the trees along 18th Street between Paulina and Blue Island will be lit until All Kings’ Day, January 6, 2011.

The highlight of the festival is a walking tour along the 18th Street Pilsen commercial corridor, offering attendees the opportunity to visit over 20 participating businesses and sample traditional Ponche, a hot beverage made with sugar cane, fruits and cinnamon.  Nacimientos and Pesebres (nativity scenes), many of them handcrafted by local artists, will be on display during the festival.
