Police Issue Community Warning After Girl Followed 2 Days in a Row
A Humboldt Park teen is terrified after she says a man in a car followed her home two days in a row, asking if she needed a ride.
Police say the 13-year-old girl reported that either a Hispanic or white man had pulled up beside her on Wednesday, Feb. 1st, asked for her name and age, then asked if she needed a ride. Feeling very uncomfortable, the girl says she ran into a nearby store. The driver then made a U-turn, and reportedly waited for the young girl to come out of the store. When she finally left the store, the man followed her once again, and only stopped when the girl met a relative at a bus stop down the street.
Grand Central Area detectives say the following day, the girl was heading to school when she saw the same man parked in the same car just a few houses from the alley she was walking in. This time, the girl was with her sister. The unidentified man proceeded to follow both girls until they walked to a location he was unable to access in his vehicle.
Since the incident was reported, police say they are on the lookout for a black 4-door Toyota Camry being driven by a white or Hispanic light-skinned male between the ages of 25 and 30. He is reported to have short brown.
Police are advising children not to travel anywhere alone.
