Playboy Club Looking to Come Back to Chicago
Fifty one years ago, the first Playboy Club opened in Chicago, after 31 years, the last of the Playboy Clubs in the U.S. closed. However, it was recently announced that just blocks from the founding club’s location, a new one is being planned for Chicago’s Near North Side.
The club, believed to be opening in the first quarter of 2012, may wind up at the mansion at 1150 N. Dearborn Street, which is currently housing Il Mulino restaurant, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
But while a Playboy Club in Chicago carries the weighty Playboy name, its competition could make it hard to be on top, considering that since the Playboy clubs have been closed, a number of nightclubs and bars have become successful at providing their clientele with the same service, and even more scantily-clad servers.
