New Michael Jordan Steakhouse to Open in Chicago

After the closing of the River North restaurant named after him more than a decade ago, a Michael Jordan restaurant will, once again grace Chicago with its presence.

The all-star former Chicago Bull’s new namesake restaurant will be opening this summer. The Michael Jordan Steakhouse, at Michigan Avenue’s Intercontinental Hotel, will take up part of the building’s first two floors.

“We’ve been searching for two years for what would be right for this location, for the demographic mix, for the city, and what’s fun,” said Laurence Geller, CEO of Strategic Hotels & Resorts. “It’s a great tourist location in a great historic building. We know how to serve good food; great personality. I don’t get what’s wrong.”

The new MJ restaurant will replace the current dining room known as Zest, and will include a 70-person capacity bar in the 7,000 square foot overall space.

Michael has had significant input regarding the steakhouse, and is expected to be “front and center” at the restaurant’s opening.
