Mexican Community in Chicago Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
Several Mexican communities in Chicago like, Pilsen and Little Village celebrated Cinco de Mayo today.
There was a parade along West Cermak Road where crowds gathered to hear bands, see floats and watch traditional dances from Mexico.
Cinco de Mayo, which translated to the 5th of May, celebrates the Mexican army’s defeat of French troops at the key battle of Puebla. The celebrations in Mexico are concentrated in the town of Puebla and by Mexicans living in the U.S. as a cause to celebrate their heritage and culture.
