Man Hospitalized After Lawndale Fire, 8 Displaced
Two people were rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out around 1:40 AM Monday morning.
In the middle of the night, firefighters responded to 2741 W. 59th Street in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood. The fire, which started on the west side of the three-story building, has left as many as eight people without a home.
The building housed a storefront and apartments on the second and third floors.
Due to smoke inhalation, one man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital at 2701 W. 68th Street in serious condition.
The Chicago Fire Department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
