Joint Chicago Police & DEA Mission Yields Huge Drug Haul
Members of the Chicago Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have worked together to successfully bring down a major drug ring working on Chicago’s North Side.
Through extensive investigation and intelligence gathering, investigators were able to pinpoint a location in the 3200 block of North Odell Avenue. Inside a residence there, authorities along with Jefferson Park District (016th) recovered approximately 1-thousand pounds of cannabis in separate shrink wrapped bundles. The cannabis has a street value of approximately $2,721,552.00.
Further investigation revealed a second stash house in the 4700 block of North Central Avenue. An additional 2-thousand pounds of cannabis was recovered from that location; its street value is approximately $5,442,104.00. Investigators also recovered a 9mm handgun.
In all, 4 offenders were charged:
Cesar Diaz, 33, 3200 block N. Odell – Felony Manufacture/Deliver Cannabis
Samuel Alvarez, 25, 3200 block N. Odell – Felony Manufacture/Deliver Cannabis
Omar Gonzalez, 37, 4700 block N. Central – Felony Manufacture/Deliver Cannabis
Mario Rodriguez, 19, 4700 block N. Central – Felony Manufacture/Deliver Cannabis
All are Class X Felonies.
