Instituto del Progreso Latino’s Grand Opening Celebration

Join Instituto del Progreso Latino and the Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10 am as we celebrate the Grand Opening of our new 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art educational and community center located at 2520 S. Western Avenue, Chicago.

This new state of the art facility will house the Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy and prepare the next generation of doctors, nurses, and scientists. IHSCA is one of Chicago’s newest Charter High Schools authorized by the Chicago Public Schools to annually prepare 600 youth for success in competitive colleges and universities and job readiness certification in the healthcare sector.

In the evening, Instituto del Progreso Latino will transform the facility into an intergenerational learning center for the whole family to pursue life altering educational advancement where parents learn English, become citizens, and prepare for college level courses through a myriad of programs.

This $24 million dollar investment was made possible through a $12 million dollar grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity “Illinois Jobs Now!” Capital Construction/Economic Recovery Bill, New Market Tax Credits through JPMorgan Chase & Co. and a leverage loan from BMO Harris Bank N.A.
