Former Mexican Consul General Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga Honored by El Valor in Pilsen
In an emotive ceremony that took part in the “Guadalupe Reyes” center in Pilsen, a large group of employees and families close to El Valor, paid homage to Ambassador Manuel Rodríguez Arriaga for his contributions to the development of the Mexican community, during his time in office as Consul General of Mexico in Chicago.
With the leadership of Ambassador Rodríguez Arriaga—who is who is expected to soon take another position at the Mexican Foreign Service, the services of the Mexican consulate were improved and expanded, both in the documentation area, as well as other important areas, such as protection. Also, the strengthening of services in the area of health, education and family patrimony protection, were evident.
In the cultural realm, it’s worth mentioning the consulate’s efforts to benefit the image of Mexico, and that of the Mexican community in Chicago, particularly with the celebrations of commemoration of the Bicentenary of the independence, and the 100 years of the Mexican Revolution in 2010.
“It is important for us to recognize the work of Ambassador Rodríguez Arriaga, who demonstrated a great commitment to promoting the interests of our community, and of those of us who serve in “El Valor,” said Clara López, vice-president of the Children’s and youth program at El Valor.
“In the name of the General Mexican consulate, and my own, I wish to express gratitude for this distinction that you award me. It is a very honorific recognition, coming from whom it comes: El Valor, an institution that has earned its prestige through the service to the most vulnerable members of our community. I receive it with satisfaction, because it means that in our work, there has been conviction and results, but most of all, because it has been possible thanks to the effective and generous support of numerous public and private institutions, and social organizations such as El Valor,” said ambassador Rodríguez Arriaga.
