Daley to Hand Over Taste of Chicago to Park District, at Least for this Year
The City of Chicago continues to struggle with how to manage the costs with its very popular, money draining Taste of Chicago. There has been talk that the ‘free’ festival would charge admission or that food tickets would increase prices even more.
As recent as this month, it was decided that there would be a charge to hear the musical group perform and then you heard nothing. Logically, Mayor Daley who leaves office this year has nixed everything since the new mayor will surely come up with his own plan.
Now the Mayor is expected, according to Greg Hinz of Crain’s to turn over management of the Taste to the Chicago Park District, at least for this year. They operate under a different budget then the city’s budget. The option of having a private enterprise manage the festival did not fly.
