CRIME: Oak Lawn Man Arrested For Beating With Sledgehammer
Felix Amparano is being held on $1 million bond for allegedly beating two women with a sledgehammer on Tuesday.
The 31 year-old Oak Lawn man, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and one count of attempted robbery, said police.
A building at the intersection of 47th Street and Seeley Avenue was the sight of the attack on the two women. Around 8:15 a.m., Amparano and the women allegedly got into an argument over the use of his van. He became enraged and attacked the women with a sledgehammer. When the sledgehammer broke while he was beating the second women, he proceeded to use his fists. Police were called when moaning and screaming were heard coming from the kitchen window.
According to the police report, when police arrived, they knocked but no one answered, and both doors were locked. The officers saw a “very bloody” Amparano walk out the back of the building with scratches to his face and hand. When the officers stopped him, he allegedly said, “They started it.”
Inside, the victims were found laying in a bedroom and a room adjacent to the kitchen with both going in and out of consciousness. Next to the victim in the bedroom, a pair of scissors and a hammer were found as well as blood “all over” the mattress, and on pieces of glass below a broken window.
Thursday, Judge Donald Panarese ordered Amparano held on $1 million bond until his October 19th preliminary hearing. Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
