COMMUNITY ALERT: White or Hispanic Men Wanted for Deering Robberies
About These Crimes
This alert gives notice to residents of the 9th District (Deering) of robberies that occurred during the month of April. In the reported incidents, victims were approached while walking and their property was taken by force or threat of force. Incident times and locations are listed below:
· 1700 Block of W. 48th St., on April 25, 2012, at approx. 5:39 p.m.
· 4700 Block of S. Marshfield Ave., on April 29, 2012, at approx. 4:35 p.m.
About The Offenders
Offenders are described as male, White or White Hispanic, 20-35 years of age, 5’4”-5’11”, 160-200 lbs. with black hair and light complexion. The offenders reportedly left the scene of the robberies in a white Toyota sedan (possibly a Camry or Corolla) with Illinois Temporary license plates.
What You Can Do
· Always be aware of your surroundings
· Report suspicious activity immediately
· If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
· Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc…)
· Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
· If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
· Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
