Community Alert: Police Seeking Information Regarding Armed Robberies in Area

Area One Detectives are seeking information regarding the offenders of recent armed robbery incidents occurring at “rehabbing” locations in the 008th ( Chicago Lawn) District. These incidents occurred between December 01, 2010 and January 31, 2011 in the vicinity of:  5800 South – 7300 South Western Avenue - Kedzie Avenue.

Male black offender(s) armed with a semiautomatic handgun enter into/onto “rehab” sites while contractors are working. The offender(s) announce a robbery and take the victim’s personal property.

What You Can Do
  * Always be aware of your surroundings.
  * Have keys readily available when entering premises or vehicles.
  * Try to stay in well lit areas. 
  * Always report suspicious activity immediately.
  * Remember any unique physical characteristics (scar, limp, acne, etc.) of suspicious persons and report them to police.
  * If you are the victim of a robbery, dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible.
  * Clearly announce any movements you are going to make prior to the action, for example: “I’m reaching for my wallet.”
  * If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information from him or her.
  * When working indoors, keep exterior doors locked/secured.
