COMMUNITY:  After School Program Teaching Social Enterprise

Co-op Image, an after school program, is teaching local kids about social enterprise with an eco-green business selling hot sauce.  Co-op, that operates in several different Chicago Public Schools, is tending garden in Humboldt Park (1357 N. Campbell St.) and growing chili peppers to make “Co-op Hot Sauce” to sell to local farmers markets.  There are about 600 kids in the south and west communities of Chicago that are benefiting from this after school program and all are loving it.  The children not only get to be community gardeners and social entrepreneurs but they also learn about recycling, glassing-blowing and art education.
