Chicago Retailers Told to Watch Out for Teen ‘Flash Mobs’ Intent on Stealing
The Chicago Police has sent out advisories to Chicago retailers telling them to be on the look out for groups of ‘unruly’ teenagers that are intent on stealing merchandise.
These ‘flash mobs’ are organized and coordinate their crime via Twitter. Via Twitter the teens select the store, what times to meet and then meet in the store as a group. In Chicago at least three stores, all on Michigan Avenue, recently have been the target of these flash mobs.
At a North face store a group of tens entered and started yelling, knocking down displays and then proceeded to steal $3,000 worth of merchandise.
