The Dog Secret: Cesar Millan.
Cesar Millan, grew up in the farms of the Mexican landscape. His affinity with dogs began from an early age so much so, that his family nicknamed him el Perrero. At the tender age of 13 en route to a judo competition he blatantly declared to his mother that he would be the best dog trainer in the world.
He illegally crossed the Mexican-American border in pursuit of a better life. He started his career in a dog grooming store with the most aggressive dogs. From there his career flourished when he met Jada Pinkett Smith through a mutual friend with two Rottweilers.
She was instantly attracted to Cesar’s methods. “It was really his energy, and how I would see him physically handle the dogs,” she says. “That made me trust him.” Jada still remembers the principles he first taught her: “It’s not about the dog. It’s always about us. It’s always about the owner. It’s up to us to create an environment and circumstances in which the dog can thrive and be itself.”
Calm assertive energy. That’s the secret. Jada Pinkett calls it balanced aggression. It works on the sole premise of emitting a calm-assertive energy towards your pet, to understand that dogs are pack animals that need calm-assertive pack leaders (you).
His experience as an avid dog trainer led Millan to an inevitable tv series, the Dog Whisperer which celebrated its 100th episode las year. He also enjoys success with a magazine, traveling around the world to teach people about dogs, and raising a family.
