Judge Demi Lovato was brought to tears on FOX’s X Factor by one girl’s emotional story and performance.
Looking every bit the rocker, 19-year-old Jillian Jensen of Rochester, Mass. greeted the judges with a big smile, even connecting with Lovato saying she was “kind of a big fan.”
That smile quickly went away, however, as she shared her story of being “severely bullied” when she was in middle school and high school. She went on to tearfully thank Lovato for a she has done with anti-bullying campaigns. Lovato has been very vocal about bullying, having been through it herself.
The emotion from the stage continued with Jensen’s rendition of Jessie J’s touching “Who You Are”. (Watch it below.)
As Jensen sang, Lovato is seen telling fellow judge Britney Spears, “You can feel that pain.”
Surprisingly, even stone-cold judge Simon Cowell was moved, later saying, “I lost it. I’ve never, ever done that in my life.”.
After the performance and a stand ovation from the audience, Lovato wipes the tears from her eyes and walks to the side of the stage to give a crying Jensen a hug to tell her, “It’s okay. I know exactly what you’ve gone through. But I’ve made it through it, and I know you can too. You are so strong. That was amazing, absolutely amazing.”
Jensen impressed everyone, Simon even calling her performance “incredible.”
