Thousands of women are expected to take part in marches in cities across Italy to protest against the country’s prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi this weekend, as a call for consequences continues to grow.
The organizers say recent sex scandals implicating Mr. Berlusconi demean women.
“The idea is to march into squares in every part of Italy in a peaceful but noisy manner with pots, ladles, saucepans and lids,” the group said.
One rally being publicized on Facebook is calling for protesters to march to Berlusconi’s lavish villa and throw condoms at the gate. In 1993 former prime minister Craxi was pelted with coins when he was accused of corruptions, Condoms seem apropriate given Berlusconi’s sexcapades.
Another group plans to throw underwear outside the Prime Ministers villa, while yet another Facebook initiative urges Italians to hang banners from their balconies saying “Berlusconi go away”.
The prime minister denies allegations he paid an underage prostitute for sex.
