A woman was gunned down in the general hospital in Ciudad Victoria, the capital of the northeastern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, prosecutors said.
Three gunmen went into the hospital and murdered the woman, who was in her early 30s, around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office said.
The woman tried to run when she spotted the gunmen, but she was shot in the head and left arm, investigators said.
The victim was treated by doctors but died a few hours later due to the “seriousness of her wounds,” the AG’s office said in a statement.
The gunmen escaped and their whereabouts is unknown, the AG’s office said.
Army troops cordoned off the hospital so AG’s office investigators could gather evidence, officials said.
