A one minute fake-news spot from a Peruian website has gone viral; “The Peruvian Dream” has been viewed 50,000 times on YouTube in only 48 hours.

The video shows blue eyed, blond “gringos” migrating illegally into Peru on rafts.

An interviewer collects talking head testimonies from a handful of seemingly well-off fishermen.

“They were reaching the coast, they looked desperate,” says a local fishermen, in front of a shiny 4x4 truck.

“Come to Peru while it’s still easy,” reads the ending slogan.

“The Peruvian Dream” was created by LivinginPeru.com founder Carsten Korch in conjunction with marketing company Fahrenheit and Fat Free Films, all based in Lima, Peru.

The promotional spot flips the traditional immigration paradigm on its head; with Peru’s strong economic growth and bountiful resources amidst economic recession in northern countries, may the American Dream be replaced by a new Peruvian Dream?
