The father of a 9-year-old rapper named Lil Poopy is now under investigation after music videos in which the pint-size rapper spouts foul language and woman dance provocatively around him were seen on YouTube.
Born Luie Rivera Jr., Lil Poopy, who is said to also refer to himself as Coke Boy, is already making a name for himself, but while it may be good for his career, it may land his father in jail.
After seeing the questionable material in the fourth-grader’s music videos, police in Brockton, Mass. filed a complaint against his father, Luis Rivera, alleging abuse and/or neglect.
On Sunday, police Lt. David Dickinson, told Enterprise News, ‘It’s a bit much for a 9-year-old. It warrants the attention of the Department of Children and Families.”
The father’s attorney begs to differ however, calling the investigation “racially charged, because whoever watched it probably doesn’t understand rap.” He goes on to say the case comes down to the content of the videos, “which is protected by the First Amendment.”
In the videos, Lil Poopy is often dancing with scantily clad woman who at times gyrate against him as he spouts lyrics about the usual rap excesses: money, drugs, women, and expensive cars.
The internet sensation, who has shared the stage with rap superstar and mogul P.Diddy, performs with an entourage of sorts known as the Coke Boy Posse.
Still, his father says his son is a good kid who goes to school every day and is “a really smart kid” who is liked by his teachers.
“He knows no school, no rappin’,” the father says.
So what do you think? Is the content of both his raps and videos “too much” for a 9-year-old? And if so, do you think the father deserves to be punished?
