This May 1st, known as the day synonymous with International Workers’ Day or Labor Day, many American cities are holding immigrant right rallies and marches.
In Los Angeles there will be a march kicking of at 10:00 am (PST), in Chicago an immigration rights rally will start in the Hispanic community of Pilsen while in Wisconsin the AFL-CIO is joining their immigrant-rights march in downtown Milwaukee.
These pro-immigrant rallies come on the heels of President Obama’s DREAM Act comments at Miami Dade College. There he reaffirmed his commitment to the DREAM ACT and said he will continue fighting to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
“It makes no sense to expel talented young people from our country. They grew up as Americans. They pledge allegiance to our flag. And if they are trying to serve in our military or earn a degree, they are contributing to our future – and we welcome those contributions,” Obama said
