Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz joined their What to Expect When You’re Expecting costars on the cover of Redbook magazine’s June issue.
The lovely Latinas each star as mothers or mothers-to-be in the hilarious comedy based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name.
The film is described as “a hilarious and heartfelt big screen comedy about five couples whose intertwined lives are turned upside down by the challenges of impending parenthood.”
Diaz plays Jules, fitness guru who along with dance show star partner Evan quickly realize that their celebrity fast-paced lives are about to be changed with the arrival of a baby.
In June’s Redbook, when asked if she feels the pressured to have children, Diaz, 39, said, “I’m sure a lot of people would expect that I would have had a child by my age. But it’s not what I’ve wanted out of my life thus far. We still live in a largely chauvinistic world. There’s a box people put themselves in, and when you [live] outside of it, that makes them uncomfortable–they have to look at themselves and question their own choices.”
Alongside Diaz, Jennifer Lopez stars as photographer Holly, who is prepared to travel the globe to adopt a child. However, her husband Alex isn’t so sure, and tries to quiet his panic by attending a support group of fathers with children, where he’ll learn what being a father is really like.
In the June issue, Lopez, 42, opened up saying, “I remember after the babies were born, about seven to 10 days in, I was like, ‘What is going on with me?’ I felt sad and depressed and thought the babies didn’t love me.”
She credits the book the movie was based on with helping her understand what was happening to her after the birth of her now 4-year-old twins.
“It said how you have this huge hormonal drop about seven to 10 days after you give birth. It’s called the ‘baby blues.’ But I just thought they didn’t like me!”
Lopez and Diaz star alongside Hollywood starlets Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks, and Brooklyn Decker.
