Photo: Pedro Hernandez Confesses to Etan Patz Killing
A picture of Etan Patz was the first to be put on the side of milk cartons, 33-years ago when he disappeared on his way to the school bus two blocks from his house, in New York City and now everyone may find out what happened to him.
Authorities are reporting Pedro Hernandez of New Jersey has confessed to strangling and cutting the 6-year-old into pieces and then putting his body in a bag. Hernandez who worked in the area where the Patz’ family lived, allegedly lured the youngster with candy and then attacked him.
There has been a flurry of activity in this 1979 missing child’s case after the case was reopened in 2010. Just last month New York police evacuated the basement of a Prince Street building where chief suspect Jose Ramos worked. Ramos, a convicted pedophile, was dating the boy’s baby-sitter. A body has never been found and Etan was declared legally dead in 2001.
According to NBC New York news, attention was focused on Hernandez when family members recently recalled hearing Hernandez talking about killing a child and hiding his body in a local bodega. When police brought him in to discuss those accusations he confessed. Police are now investigating the confession to see if it is viable.
