The Chilean soccer team has banned the press after pictures of a naughty prank got published in newspapers and the Internet.
Backed up by the entire coaching body, Chile’s National Soccer Team has closed its doors to the press through the practices for the upcoming Copa América and until further notice.
A few days ago, several players decided to play a prank on left wing Roberto Cepeda, and during practice, ganged up on him and got him naked in the middle of the field.
Several media outlets captured the scene, and published the images, next to comments suggesting naughtiness and indiscipline by the part of the entire team, as well as coaches and management.
“If you ask me, the press should not even be allowed in Juan Pinto Durán (the team’s practice home),” said forward Jean Beausejour, before adding that the teams intimacy had been violated, as “What happened with Cerceda, has happened a million times in the team.”
Coach Claudio Borghi suggested that journalists had betrayed his trust, and announced a cero press policy.
