FC Barcelona and Spanish national team goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who has been out with an injury for more than a month, said on Twitter that he was ready to return to action.
“Training session on Dec. 25. I’m all set to go. Thanks Juanjo Brau (Barça’s physiotherapist) for always being by my side,” Valdes, who also sent season’s greetings to his fans, wrote on Wednesday.
Valdes sustained a tear in his right calf muscle during a friendly match between Spain and South Africa on Nov. 19.
The 31-year-old net minder had said on Dec. 20 that he was optimistic about his recovery and expected to be ready to play for Barcelona in its Jan. 5 Spanish-league match against Elche.
“I did a goalkeeping session and everything’s moving faster than we thought. I’m hopeful about returning to action (against) Elche, as long as that’s what the coach (Gerardo “Tata” Martino) wants,” Valdes said then.
