A Puerto Rican woman raising two children on her own was the lucky winner of an $8-million prize in the $24-million Electronic Lottery drawing held in San Juan this week.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, said Friday in an interview on WKAQ 580 radio that for the moment she’ll keep her present job, from which she earns around $40,000 a year.

She said that among the whims she will allow herself thanks to the prize will be the purchase of an SUV and a trip with her 16-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, while making it clear that she will also help her mother out economically.

She would not say where she bought the lucky numbers, though she did say that the choice of numbers was automatic and that she never realized she was the winner until Thursday.

The woman, who won the prize on her birthday, will receive her winnings in the form of payments of around $320,000 each over 20 years.
