Photo: Tropical Storm Nate Arrives in Mexico
Tropical Storm Nate was heading west aiming toward Mexico’s gulf coast and was expected to make landfall as a hurricane. However, when the Tropical storm made landfall in the state of Veracruz today around noon CST report of damages were minimal.
Nate continues to move in its westernly direction with 45 mph winds and is expected to become a tropical depression later today.
The state of Veracruz had opened several storm shelters and only two were in use as of this afternoon.
The bad weather report comes as Mexican authorities continue to search for 10 employees of Houston-based Geokinetics who were working on an oil rig and went missing Thursday. The missing 10 include American, Mexican and Kazakhstan nationals. Mexico’s PEMEX is in charge of the rescue operation
In addition, authorities are looking for a dozen shrimp boat fisherman that have been missing since Friday.
