Anchorage, Alaska law man Rafael Espinoza is actually Rafael Mora-Lopez an illegal alien from Mexico working here illegally and with false credentials.
Mora-Lopez had been a police officer for six years and took a false identity that no one seemed to question and that passed police department review. It helped that his peers and Police Chief Mark Mew saw him as an excellent employee who doesn’t appear to have ever broken the law except for how he got the job he loves.
Mora-Lopez’ double life came apart when he applied for a U.S. passport with false identification flagging Homeland Security and immigration officials. These agencies are investigating if any of Mora-Lopez police work was compromised or if he was part of a larger ‘conspiracy’ – thus far it doesn’t seem so.
The officer – “the real one and the one hired by the Anchorage Police Department—had “squeaky clean backgrounds,” Mew said. There was nothing to indicate the man should not have been hired, he said.
Mora-Lopez, who has lived in the community for over 20-years is now in jail, leaving his wife and child behind and if found guilty faces a 10-year sentence and deportation.
