On Thursday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Station rescued an undocumented alien from the Rio Grande River.

On Thursday evening, Del Rio Station agents spotted a suspected undocumented alien who had fallen off a weir dam while attempting to cross the Rio Grande River. The weir dam, approximately 300 yards from the Del Rio International Bridge, creates dangerous currents on the downriver side.

When agents arrived at subject’s last known location, they found him and moved him to safety. The subject was initially reported as unresponsive; he had no pulse and was not breathing. Agents administered CPR and requested EMS on scene. The victim was transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center and admitted to intensive care for further treatment and evaluation.

On Sunday, the subject, a 45-year-old Mexican national, was released from the hospital and transported to the Del Rio Station by agents. During processing, it was discovered he had been previously deported from the United States. His prior order of removal will be reinstated.
