The U.S. Census Bureau’s 5-Year American Community Survey showed that 12.6 percent of the American Indian population is divorced, the highest of any ethnic group in the U.S.
The survey, which covered a period from 2005 through 2009, polled 3 million households. Looking at the breakdown of statistical data American Indians and Alaskan Natives have the highest rate of divorce amongst ethnic and racial minorities as well as the general white population.
The African American community where 11.5 percent of this demographic is divorced then the general white population reflects a 10.8 percent rate of divorce, follows them.
While 7.8 percent of Hispanics/Latinos are divorced and Asians have the lowest rate of divorce amongst themselves at 4.9 percent.
