What a stunner and nail bitter for women soccer fans when the U.S. defeated Brazil 5-3 in FIFA’s Women’s Soccer World Cup play today.
The game had everything from retaken penalties, players sidelined and a penalty shootout. Going into extra time with a score of 2-2 and after playing for 55 minutes the U.S. women gave it their all.
After the U.S. team was down to ten players due to penalties and Brazil scored another goal things didn’t look too hopeful for the US team. However, Abby Wambach scored 122nd minutes into the match which appeared to give the team the morale boost they needed to ride into the semifinals.
