57% of Americans oppose changing the 14th amendment that grants US citizenship to anyone born on American Soil, whereas 39% favor changing the amendment. According to a new Pew Research Center Poll, Americans favor strong measures to fight illegal immigration but not a constitutional change.
The Poll also asked people for their priorities in dealing with illegal immigration. The highest number of participants says equal emphasis should be given to strengthening the border and immigration laws as well as creating a path for illegal immigrants already here.
