On Wednesday, the federation’s competition committee suspended Ronaldo for one game for swiping at Athletic Bilbao defender Carlos Gurpegi’s face and two additional games for making an offensive gesture to a referee while walking off the field after receiving a red card.
The match, played last Sunday at San Mames, ended in a 1-1 draw.
In their decision handed down Friday, the three-judge panel rejected Real Madrid’s arguments, although the club can still appeal the ban to the RFEF’s disciplinary committee.
The Portuguese player will miss the Blancos’ next La Liga game against Villarreal on Saturday and could also be suspended for two other Spanish-league contests against Getafe and Elche.
The suspension does not affect the participation of the 2013 world player of the year in the Copa del Rey competition. Ronaldo started for Real Madrid in his team’s 3-0 victory Wednesday over defending champion Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the semifinals of that competition.
